Our Programs
Ballet Class Financial Assistance Program and Kerri L. Hunter Memorial Ballet Class Scholarship
The Ballet Class Financial Assistance Program is designed to provide financial aid to individuals in need of support to pursue their ballet education. This program offers assistance to students who demonstrate financial need, helping to make ballet classes more accessible to all.
The Kerri L. Hunter Memorial Minority Ballet Class Scholarship honors the memory of Kerri L. Hunter, a talented former minority Company member who tragically passed away in a car accident. This scholarship specifically supports minority individuals who are passionate about ballet, ensuring they have the opportunity to develop their skills and pursue their artistic goals. In memory of Kerri, her parents, Patricia and William Hunter, a longtime Canton City School Administrator and former Canton Ballet Board President, established this scholarship to continue her legacy and support the next generation of ballet artists.
Both programs reflect the School of Canton Ballet’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for dancers of all backgrounds.
Financial Aid Form
All students must be at least 5 years of age by August 1. These programs only apply to ballet classes.
The Ballet Class Financial Assistance Program and the Kerri L. Hunter Memorial Minority Ballet Class Scholarship provide a percentage of tuition based on the number of qualifying applicants each semester. The award is granted for one semester and may be extended for a second semester, provided the student maintains regular attendance and demonstrates a positive attitude, as verified by the instructor. Please note that financial assistance is generally not available for summer classes or workshops.
Applications will be reviewed by the Financial Assistance Committee and are subject to approval by the Director. As a nonprofit organization, the School of Canton Ballet cannot guarantee funding for all qualified applicants, as awards depend on available resources. All financial information will be kept strictly confidential.
The School of Canton Ballet admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships, and other school-administered activities.
