Canton Ballet is celebrating three alumni reaching new milestones in their professional dance careers, continuing the organization’s more than 60-year tradition of preparing dancers for opportunities on the professional stage.
Maximilian Catazaro Hayward has joined American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice, Thomas Kingsbury has been promoted to soloist with Carolina Ballet, and Margaret Kingsbury is joining New Chamber Ballet in New York as a company dancer.

For Catazaro, the appointment continues a family legacy in professional ballet. He is the youngest of three brothers who trained at Canton Ballet and went on to professional careers. His brother Cameron Catazaro is a principal dancer with Miami City Ballet, while Zachary Catazaro is a retired principal dancer with New York City Ballet.
Their mother, Jennifer Catazaro Hayward, is also a Canton Ballet alumna and currently serves as the organization’s executive artistic director.
The Kingsbury family represents another generation of Canton Ballet alumni finding success on the professional stage. Thomas Kingsbury’s promotion to soloist marks the latest advancement in his career with Carolina Ballet. His sister Margaret, a Canton Ballet alumna and graduate of Point Park University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance, is beginning her professional career as a company dancer with New Chamber Ballet.

Their sister, Madeline (Kingsbury) Stiller, is also a Canton Ballet alumna and is an industrial engineer with C3 Controls in Beaver, Pennsylvania. The Kingsbury siblings are grandchildren of the late Thomas M. Bernabei, former mayor of Canton.

Margaret Kingsbury
“We are incredibly proud to see Max, Thomas, and Margaret reach these milestones,” Jennifer Catazaro said. “Each of them has built their career through tremendous talent, discipline and commitment. To see dancers who grew up in our studios now taking the stage with professional companies across the country is meaningful not only for Canton Ballet, but for our entire community.”
The latest achievements add to Canton Ballet’s longstanding record of alumni continuing into professional dance careers and advanced collegiate training. For more than six decades, the organization has provided classical ballet training to generations of dancers from Canton and throughout Northeast Ohio.
The appointments of Catazaro and the Kingsburys demonstrate that the foundation for a professional career on some of the nation’s most prominent stages can begin in Canton.
