Canton Ballet will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a milestone “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) Gala Weekend, April 24–26, 2026, at the Cultural Center for the Arts. The event is set to be the largest gathering of alumni in the organization’s history, with dozens of performers and leaders spanning six decades returning to Canton to honor the Ballet’s enduring legacy.
“This weekend is more than a celebration of our past; it is a powerful reflection of the intergenerational influence Canton Ballet has had on the world of dance,” said Jennifer Catazaro Hayward, Executive Artistic Director. “Bringing our alumni home to share the stage with our current dancers allows us to honor our 60-year history while looking forward to the new works and voices that will define our future.”
A Three-Day Celebration of Artistry
The anniversary weekend offers three distinct experiences for the community and alumni:
- Friday, April 24 (7:00 PM): Anniversary Performance. Open to the general public, this performance-only evening features a curated program of works separate from the Saturday gala lineup.
- Saturday, April 25 (5:00 PM): The GOAT Gala Experience. A high-energy, immersive night beginning with a VIP Red Carpet reception. The evening includes a Gala Performance featuring new works and surprise alumni returns.
- Tribute to Angelo Lemmo: A centerpiece of the performance will be a special tribute to Resident Choreographer Angelo Lemmo, recognizing his 60-year influence on the artistic voice of the Ballet.
- The Celebration: Following the performance, guests will enjoy a modern celebration in the Great Court featuring a full open bar, elevated cuisine by Spice, and live music by Tony Quarles & The Discovery Band.
- Sunday, April 26 (10:00 AM): Alumni Brunch. The weekend concludes with a private brunch for alumni and former faculty at the Canton Museum of Art’s Wilkof Courtyard, featuring a curated menu by Fromage du Monde.
Legacy and Community Support
The Gala is co-presented by alumni Henry “Ty” Neading and Amie Juenemann Diamond, alongside their spouses. Additional support is provided by Host & Home Luxury Vacation Rentals, DeHoff Development, and The George H. Deuble Foundation — the first foundation to formally fund Canton Ballet in 1969.
Proceeds from the weekend support Canton Ballet’s mission, including scholarships, live music, and community programs, ensuring access to dance for future generations.
