Canton Ballet presents its beloved, full-length production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at the historic Canton Palace Theatre December 5–7, 2025, with a special school matinee performance on Thursday, December 4 at 10:30AM.
This year’s production features more than 180 students from Canton Ballet’s School and Pre-Professional Divisions, many of whom have been rehearsing since early October. Together with professional guest artists, live musicians, and choral ensembles, these dancers will bring this cherished holiday tradition to life.
Audiences will experience a true collaboration of regional talent with live music by the Canton Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Doug Droste, and a breathtaking choral performance by the national award winning Summit Choral Society.
This season’s guest artists include Emma Von Enck, Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet and Cleveland native, appearing as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Cameron Catazaro, Principal Soloist with Miami City Ballet, in the role of her Cavalier. Catazaro began his training at Canton Ballet and returns home to perform on the very stage where his artistic journey first began.
“The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition that connects generations through music, movement, and imagination,” said Jennifer Catazaro Hayward, Executive Artistic Director of Canton Ballet. “For our students, it is a rite of passage that builds discipline and confidence; for our community, it’s a celebration of art that brings people together in the spirit of the season.”
“Partnerships like this are the heartbeat of our arts community,” said Rachel Hagemeier, President & CEO of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. “When live music, dance, and choral voices unite on one stage, audiences experience the power of collaboration during a joyful time of year that celebrates family and community — and contributes to the economic vibrancy of downtown Canton.”
